Why I Vote

My parents voted in each election and they would take me along to the polling location. I was so excited when I cast my first ballot and I continue to feel pride in our democracy each time I vote. I vote because voting is a privilege in America.

Why I Vote

I vote to be part of a process that has been deemed to me by my forefathers through their blood and sweat. I vote because it is a liberty which I cherish. I vote for candidates that I believe will support our community, our county, our state and our country in its entirety, for the betterment of all the people, not just particular groups of people. I vote because I was born in a country that was founded on democracy, and for that I will be eternally grateful. I vote because I can!

Why I Vote

I vote to make my voice heard on issues that are important to me and my family, and on behalf of those who can’t yet vote (children) and those who have worked so hard to guarantee my right to vote (suffragist movement, election volunteers, activists and legal supporters, and of course the LWV!!!)

Why I Vote

I vote for the sake of others, not myself. I vote because I have had privileges in my life that have not been available to others. I vote because looking out for others was a lesson l learned when I was young and it influenced me in my teaching career. I vote because I believe that by choosing candidates who represent my values, I contribute to assuring that ALL have the rights and privileges that have shaped my life.

Why I Vote

I vote out of respect for the past - for the three generations of women who fought day and night so that I and other women have the right to vote. I vote for the future -  to set an example for my daughter and granddaughters. I vote for today - because voting is an essential way for me to connect my values to my power as a citizen of the United States.

Why I Vote

I vote because my own family suffered the disastrous consequences of living in a country where democracy was compromised by unchecked power and a generation of war and destruction. I vote because I am a citizen of this great democracy, and my vote will help determine the direction our country will move in coming years.

Why I Vote

I vote because it’s the only way for my voice to truly be heard. I can complain or cheer on candidates, but if I don’t vote, it won’t matter.

I vote because voting is an essential part of living in our democracy, a privilege not ever to be ignored.
